Q: How long have you been a shooter ?
A: About 6 years now.

Q: How long have you been a member of Cardiff Rifle Club ?
A: Again about 6 years, this was the club I first joined.

Q: Why did you take up shooting in the first place ?
A: I was working for my Duke of Edinburgh bronze award at the local Boys Brigade and needed to achieve a good level a skill for the award, my father has been shooting for a long time so I thought I would give it a go and I have been going ever since. I got the bronze award and also silver, again with shooting as the skill.

Q: What do you enjoy most about shooting ?
A: I think mainly the satisfaction of being able to do something to a high standard, I have never been the most capable person physically at sports and things like that so for me shooting is something I can be good at and be given an even chance right from the very start. That is one thing that is really great about it, it doesn't matter if you tall, short, fat, thin, male, female or even disabled because everyone who can physically hold a rifle steady has the potential to be one of the best no matter what.

Q: What other interests or hobbies do you have ?
A: Computing, I am studying computer studies at university after also completing GCSE and A-Level courses, I enjoy programming, multimedia work and web design mostly. I am getting invloved also in the Ynysybwl Regeneration Project which is a scheme set up to try and improve my village, I have recently designed a web site for them.

Music, I play the trombone, I used to play in orchestras but don't really get enough time any more, I also enjoy listening to all sorts of music.

I began shooting as the physical/recreational part of my Duke of Edinburgh bronze award in 1994 while with the Boys Brigade, having been given the idea by my father who was already a club member and by some of the older boys who had attempted shooting for their awards in the previous years. After getting the bronze award I continued to gain silver award the next year (again with shooting a major part) and hope to attempt the Gold award sometime during my time as a University student.

After a few years of - to be quite frank - mediocre results in shooting, I have purchased a new rifle and am in the process of remodelling my position to something more like it should be. It appears to be initially a success as after about 6 weeks I have already regained my average with the old rifle and am still tweaking things to get the set up right. I hope that this will aid me in stepping up to 'the next level' and enabling me to challenge for competitions.
