I have been a member for the past eight months and have found the club
conscientious And determined in the art of Shooting;
the club is regulated and as always safety is a must.
In this time the club and members have demonstrated their ability and
knowledge too teaching me shooting skills, advice or any questions I may
have about shooting, even the football scores.
The Club has the usual facilities but the outer and inner shell appearance
is need of modernization.
However! The shooting facilities are first-rate and all new members, are
allowed access and use of the club equipment.
There are competitions all the time for all levels, novice to marksman. I have
just shot my first club champion and am pleased to be competing with the
best.
A typical description of my rookie training consisted of been taught first
about the safety, skills and basics, then shooting of a solid block of wood, this is
to determine your aim, grouping skills and to get you use to the shooting
position.
Depending on how you progress, the next step is the skyhook; this is where
your rifle is slotted onto a hook and rope, pending from ceiling height.
This is to give you an idea of movement and control with a rifle. Note if
you are not positioned and holding the rifle correctly, the skyhook will show
this by aiming you either side of your aimed target.
Again depending on how you progress, you then go onto ten bull targets, this
is what all members and other clubs shoot. But the training and coaching
does not stop here and there is always room for improving your score.
As well as been conscientious, the club and all its members are all friendly
and have a kind manner and are always available for any questions or to help
concerning shooting.
I believe Cardiff Rifle Club will be a considerable asset to somebody who
decides to pursue an interest in shooting and I and other members look
forward to hearing and meeting you.
