The Captain's Trophy was first introduced as an award that could be presented to a member based on more than just simply how good they're scores are. In fact the Captain's Trophy can be awarded for any number of things, in the past it has been awarded for bravery, effort put into running the club, recruitment, coaching achievements, time in service and shoting development.
To highlight the different cases in which this award is given I will give you two examples from the past few years. In 1996/1997 Michael McGreal was given the award as reward for his amazing improvement from a beginner to a competition shooter in less than 18 months, some achievement for a 17 year old. In 1998/1999 Robert Riddett recieved the award he was overdue for a long time because being captain for the past 5 years he would not award himself, he recieved the award for his past, present and continuing amount of time, money and effort he puts into making our club work.
So you see this really is more than just a shooting award, this is in many ways the highest award in the club because it is much more than a reflection of you as a shooter, more a reflection of the winners as people.
